Thought

Since we know how this story ends (happily!), it’s hard to imagine how Abraham must have felt when God asked him to give up his son. This whole story can be seen as a reflection of the Father God’s relationship to His people and as a foreshadowing of the story of Jesus that was yet to come. Abraham in his faithfulness was willing to give up his son Isaac to keep his covenant with God, securing the blessing of God for generations to come. And God in His faithfulness is willing to give up His Son to keep His covenant promise and save the lives of every person that has ever been or ever will be.
